When did it become such a meme to riff on Kingdom Hearts story? Often I hear from game reviewers that Kingdom Hearts' story is nonsense and impossible to understand. I'll admit, it's a lot to take in with several interconnecting games, but last year, I replayed all of the games in the HD collection to catch up on the story. Honestly? It's not that confusing to grasp. The games tell you the information little by little to digest, with the added Ansem/Xehanort reports to add depth.

kingdomheartsnyctophiliac:

Absolutely. I think even hardcore fans that joke about it genuinely acknowledge that Kingdom Hearts is actually pretty straight forward. The plot itself isn’t complicated, I think it’s more along the lines of TALKING about it or EXPLAINING it is when it’s complicated. For example, if you were to list out all the different xehanort/ansem/xemnases in a list and explain how they’re different, yeah, in that sense it seems very convoluted. But when you actually play the games, you TOTALLY understand who’s who and catch on immediately when the game explains it.

And maybe that’s why reviewers say it’s nonsense and impossibly to understand, maybe what they’re trying to say is it’s difficult addressing key plot points in their reviews when their reviews are supposed to cater to everyone, even people who haven’t played KH. So taking time to explain details so everyone gets it, that can get hairy. If I just say “Ansem, Xehanort’s heartless, was speaking to Ansem, Xehanort’s master” people who don’t know KH are going to think “what the fuck?” but people who play KH1 and KH2 think “Got it, go on?”

“how many tattoos i’ve gotten”
